Piracy close to Australian shores, Melbourne City Marina hosting Australian warship HMAS Yarra, a new Australian distributor for the world’s smallest PLB and Mathew Belcher named as Team Australia skipper for the Australian challenge for the Americas Cup.

That’s all just scratching the surface of what’s in this edition of Shipmate News, there’s plenty more. In fact this edition is jam packed again with marine news from around the country so, whether your interest is sail, power, industry news, or anything else associated with marine, you’ll find something of interest to you in this edition.

From the world of sailing; a round up of the 2014 Etchells Victorian Championship, details of the Sydney to Mooloolaba Race that’s back on Australia’s blue water calendar, info about Sail Mooloolaba and news about the Port Stephens Trophy and Commodores Cup, both components of Sail Port Stephens.

And from Victoria, a report that Fisheries officers issued 20 infringement notices on the Mornington Peninsula, over the Labour Day Long Weekend, for offences that included exceeding catch limits, taking shellfish from intertidal zones and taking undersize fish.

Now, before we let you sit back and enjoy the read, just wanted to remind you that we’ve now incorporated video on the shipmate website at www.shipmate.com.au and amongst the latest batch you’ve just got to check out the spectacular mast walk by daredevil Alex Thompson, it’s breathtaking!
