Lots of ideas for Chrissie presents there, and of course, don’t forget the great boating and sailing apparel available from our clothing partner Helly Hansen. Our own website has been going great guns too and thank you to the many who’ve provided plenty of positive feedback, especially about the video content we’ve been rotating on the site. If you haven’t visited recently check it out at www.shipmate.com.au

And distribution of the 2014 edition of Shipmate print edition in Victoria is now complete. You can pick up a free copy from the nearest yacht club, marina, marine organisations and selected marine businesses. If you have any problems, flick us an email to info@shipmate.com.au or send a stamped, self-addressed envelope to PO Box 962 Williamstown Vic 3016 and we’ll mail you one.

And now finally; drinking and driving is a real issue, especially as we get closer to the holiday season. With that in mind I though I might share with you the following that came to me recently from Alistair Murray at Ronstan. He claims it came from a friend of his. However it came about I think it's appropriate at this time of the year.

“I would like to share a personal experience about drinking and driving.  As you well know, some of us have been known to have had brushes with the authorities on our way home from an occasional social session.

“A couple of nights ago, I was out for an evening with friends and had a couple of cocktails and some rather nice red wine.  Knowing full well I may have been slightly over the limit, I did something I have never done before – I took a cab home.

“Sure enough I passed a police road block but, since it was a cab, they waved it past.  I arrived home safely without incident, which was a real surprise, as I have never driven a cab before and am not sure where I got it, or what to do with it now that it’s in my garage.”

Well that's it from me for 2013 I'm taking a break, we'll be back with the first Shipmate News for 2014 on 01 February. In the meantime though we'll still be posting marine news on the website so make sure you visit us from time to time.

Ho Ho Ho, Wishing a very Merry Christmas and a prosperous new year to you and your families. Oh, nearly forgot, we've made a little Christmas video which you'll find on our website and on our facebook page, check it out at at https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=772203209463622&set=vb.149608735056409&type=2&theater

Cheers, see you out on the water in 2014
