Shipmate News 15 May 2013

More enhanced, more ingredients and better for you!

Brrr.. A forecast 15 degrees in Melbourne today so, after the great run of weather we’ve had down south, reality has finally set in (after all, it is May) and regrettably, time to put away the shorts and don the trousers. Still, we did manage to get some nice social boating in last weekend when we joined a small flotilla and cruised up the Yarra into Melbourne’s Docklands. Enjoyed a great lunch at one of the waterfront eateries followed by a very social afternoon on board at Melbourne City Marina.

But, down to business and, as we’ve been telling you for a while now, we’re in the process of revamping and improving our website at and we’re now pleased to announce that we've added around 200 more individual trades and service providers to the listings within Shipmate. All members of the Boating Industry Association of Victoria are now included among the various categories (and highlighted as BIA members).

In order to accommodate the additional information we’ve created some new categories and updated others. If you haven’t visited recently, log on at you’ll be surprised how many of the categories have expanded significantly, some even doubling in size. Now, whatever you’re looking for, whether it’s a product or service, marine weather, tides, boat show dates, marine events or the latest marine news, it’s all there at Of course the information is also available from our free smartphone App, available from the iPhone App Store or Google Play and here's a link to the details;

But we’re not finished yet, we’re still working on providing you with even more as we continue to upgrade, so stay tuned and watch this space.

If you’re currently listed in Shipmate, please check your entry and let us know if anything needs to be changed. Very soon we’ll be starting on the 2014 print edition of Shipmate Marine Directory and information for that will be downloaded from the website.

Details about upcoming boat shows, news from the ASMEX conference taking place later this month, plenty of new releases in terms of electronics, equipment and new boat models and, check out our final item; a call to recreational boat owners around Australia asking them to participate in a 12 month survey.
