Shipmate News 01 August 2012

Sydney is the main event but plenty else happening

The main event this coming weekend is the Sydney International Boat Show. Australia’s largest boat show takes place at Darling Harbour and runs from 02 – 06 August.

As usual there’ll be plenty to see and do both on the water in Cockle Bay and in the exhibition halls and, along with the education and entertainment planned. there’ll be plenty to see and do for the whole family. See you there.

As for us here at Shipmate, we’ve been busy making a start on the 2013 edition of Shipmate Marine Directory – The Victorian boaters essential guide. If you have a current free listing you will have received an email asking you to check your details and advise if all is OK, or, if you require changes/additions. If you have not responded we would appreciate you doing so ASAP to info@shipmate.com.au. Here's a link to the actual booklet: www.shipmate.com.au/shipmatecd/shipmate.html

Advertising in the next edition is now open and there is still limited space available. At $950 for a full page and $590 for a half page, in a publication that lasts a full 12 months, you can see why it sells out so fast. If you'd like more details, give us a call on 0418 587 799 or email to info@shipmate.com.au or visit www.shipmate.com.au

Ok that’s the housekeeping done... Now to this edition and we've got plenty for everyone. A bit more about the Sydney Show, and a wrap up of the recently held Melbourne Show where all who attended are really talking it up.

We've also got details about a special deal from GME. From August 01, 2012, all GME MT400 and GPS equipped MT406G beacons sold in Australia or New Zealand will be eligible for a free EPIRB service when the 6 year replacement is due. This service includes battery replacement and full performance check, more details below.

Plenty more news including a call from from Queenscliff Harbour looking for a Trainee Marina Assistant. If you know a smart young kid who wants to get into the marine industry and get some training, (school leavers OK), see info below.

Finally, just a quick thank you to all those who called and emailed over the past couple of weeks congratulating us on Shipmate being awarded the 2012 Victorian Marine Service Award at the Victorian Marine Industry Awards, held to coincide with the Melbourne Boat Show. We really are humbled and very much appreciate the support.

That’s it from me, sit back and enjoy the read, I’ve got a plane to catch to Sydney.

Cheers, see you out on the water.
