Shipmate News 15 may 2012

Welcome to the May edition of Shipmate News. Another good mix of news and information from around Australia and, in this edition details about the upcoming Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show and information about the Riviera Festival that’s taking place just around the corner at the same time.

If you weren’t already aware this week is National Volunteer Week and we take a moment to salute the Australian Volunteer Coast Guard who do such a wonderful job assisting boaters all year round. The organization was formed in 1961 and we’ve got some stats about the work they did last year, which we think you’ll find as interesting as we did.

In other news, a report from the Victorian Government regarding an upgrade to the Mornington Pier, News about changes, new models and a refocus from Maritimo, news and innovation from marine safety equipment manufacturers Stormy and RFD and more.

Just a quick update too about Shipmate to let you know that the free iPhone App is available and working well. The stats we’re getting back show that boaters are using the resource to call suppliers with a single click straight off the App.

Our free Android Smartphone App will also be out soon so stay tuned for more on that. In the interim, don’t forget to visit us at

Cheers, see you out on the water
